A tweet on NVIDIA's Twitter account reveals that the company's first DirectX 11 compliant consumer graphics products will be named GeForce GTX 480 and GeForce GTX 470, against popular opinion that they could make for the GeForce GTX 300 series. The most likely reason for this could be that the company has released mobile graphics products under the GeForce GT 3xx series which are based on its GT21x series GPUs which are DirectX 10.1 compliant. It would be hence easier to make out that DirectX 11 products start in the 400 series.
The two are based on NVIDIA's GF100 GPU which physically has 512 CUDA cores (shader units), a 384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, and DirectX 11 compliance. While the GTX 480 is likely the full-featured part, it remains to be seen how NVIDIA carves out the GTX 470 SKU. An enquiry by AnandTech confirmed the authenticity of the Twitter account.

Mozilla has released the final version of Firefox mobile web browser. It comes with its well known Awesome bar and Weave bookmark syncing. The mobile Firefox is supposed to have optimized memory management, which will spare you some RAM. Yeahaw to that! But.. Uh oh it currently supports only Maemo platform and currently N900 and N810 are the only devices to make use of this platform.
If you own Nokia N900 or N810 you are welcomed to download and install the new Mozilla Firefox 1.0 web browser. Its key features include tabbed browsing, the Awesome "address" bar, download and password managers, local-based browsing, add-on support, pop-up blocker, automatic updates, and easy Weave syncing of bookmarks and passwords.
While most of the features speak for themselves, the Awesome bar and Weave sync may need explanation for the Firefox uninitiated. The Awesome bar is actually a smart address bar - when you start typing an address it will start offering you suggestions based on your current history. The Weave sync will allow you to sync your desktop browser's history, bookmarks, open tabs, etc.

Google, the world's most popular search engine, said last week it was thinking about quitting China after suffering a sophisticated cyber-attack on its network that resulted in theft of its intellectual property. The company has said it is no longer willing to filter content on its Chinese language google.cn engine, and will try to negotiate a legal unfiltered search engine, or exit the market.
This annoucment of Google captured the attension of the world's largest internet market by users, with blogs and local media quoting unnamed insiders as saying Google has already decided to close its offices in China.
Google has denied that, saying the company is still in the process of scanning its internal networks since the cyber-attack in mid-December. Google also said it would hold talks with the Chinese government over the next few weeks.

Google today said that a "
highly sophisticated and targeted" attack against its network last month originated in China, and tried to access the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists. Google also said,
"This attack was not just on Google. As part of our investigation we have discovered that at least twenty other large companies from a wide range of businesses--including the Internet, finance, technology, media and chemical sectors--have been similarly targeted."
In a
blog post Tuesday, David Drummond, Google's chief legal officer, said that attacks have forced the company to
"review the feasibility of our business operations in China." Google, continued Drummond, is "
no longer willing to continue censoring our results on Google.cn, and so over the next few weeks we will be discussing with the Chinese government the basis on which we could operate an unfiltered search engine within the law, if at all."
The end result of those discussions, said Drummond, may be that Google shuts down its search engine and close its offices in the People's Republic of China. [...]
